Enormous challenges meet those who take the job of leading an organization that provides direct services to adults and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. Consider whether any of these challenges resonate with you:
- Precious little time to really learn about your organization before you are asked to make decisions that could affect its future for years to come.
- Way too little support for dealing with the consequences of your decisions.
- Contract requirements that can mystify and frustrate even seasoned leaders.
- Too few mentors to whom you can turn when difficult decisions need to be made.
Are you a new director with two or less years on the job? Would it help to have conversations on these and related issues with experienced and successful directors? If so, consider participating in this Special Issues Forum.
We will be joined by:
- BETH LEVENTHAL, The Network/La Red
- CANDACE WALDRON, H.A.W.C. (Help for Abused Women and Children)
- LYSETTA HURGE-PUTNAM, Independence House
- MARY GIANAKIS, Voices Against Violence
You can bring specific issues of your own and will also have an opportunity to explore the following:
- Strategies for supporting and sustaining staff over the long term.
- Working with an engaged and supportive board of directors.
- Responding openly and effectively to difficult organizational dynamics.
- Managing government contracts with confidence.
Social work CEUs are pending through NASW.
Please register by February 22, 2008 if you would like to attend this event.
A separate registration for each attendee is required.
Confirmation with directions to Henderson house will be sent when we receive your registration.
If you register and then find you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you.
