Northnode serves a fiscal agent for Encuentro Diaspora Afro and also provides ongoing support and assistance in organizing Encuentro events and in spreading the word about this important work. Encuentro's Mission Statement We are Encuentro Diaspora Afro, a grassroots organization anchored in the community of Boston and dedicated to dismantling racism, improving the lives of women and men of African descent, and creating a just society for all. We envision a society where women and men of African descent enjoy full rights and opportunities and equal benefit from resources, and contribute to the wellbeing and developments of their families, communities, and societies. Our mission is to: Mobilize and inspire the Afro-Latino community into action for racial justice, individually and collectively. Empower young Afro-Latina women to be leaders within their community and agents of social change. Create bridges of understanding between Afro-Latino and African American communities to develop mutual respect and forge common political agendas for racial and social justice. Encuentro Diaspora Afro is based in Boston. However, the continued persistence of racial injustice and gender inequity at global, national, and local levels compels us to work towards the social, cultural, and economic equity of African Diaspora communities everywhere.
