Health Advocacy Services
for Individuals and Families

Frail elders and adults with disabilities, who need help to be safe and to access services, face many challenges. These include navigating the complex human service system, understanding the dramatic changes made to the guardianship and conservatorship laws in Massachusetts in 2009, and securing quality and affordable assistance.

As a nonprofit agency, Northnode is able to respond with a range of services offered at rates that take into account the often limited resources of those who need help.

Our services include:

• Court-appointed guardianship and conservatorship services
• Advice and assistance to individuals seeking to safeguard an incapacitated family member, by requesting guardianship or conservatorship appointments
• Assistance in the drafting of durable powers of attorney and health care proxies
• Serving as health care agent
• Consultation and assistance to institutional and community-based providers of services to frail elders and adults with incapacities
• Training on the new systems of laws governing guardianship and conservatorship in Massachusetts
