Jeanne Martin has over thirty years experience working with elders and elder care providers. She is especially focused on the interrelated issues of meditation, relaxation, and stress reduction. She has published and taught in this area and is a level II Reiki practitioner.
Jeanne is on the faculty of Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work, where she serves as director of the professional education program and as an academic and field advisor. She has developed courses on substance abuse and geriatric social work.
In her work as Wellness Coordinator for Kit Clark Senior Services in Boston, Jeanne organized and presented a wide variety of health promotion groups and programs for multicultural, low-income seniors, including homeless seniors.
Jeanne has consulted to the Massachusetts Association of Older Americans and Boston University Geriatric Institute, where she helped to develop statewide trainings on geriatric mental health issues aimed for elder service providers.
As a prevention specialist with the Center for Healthy Communities at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA, Jeanne designed and presented ESL programs, offered teacher and parent education, and developed curricula for staff supervision and training.
Jeanne holds masters degrees in social work from Simmons College and in theological studies from Boston University and a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts.
